Fidelio – Search & Evaluation: Board Agenda H2 2019

Fidelio has a busy few months ahead with Search, Evaluation and thought leadership and we are pleased to share highlights.

Our focus is aligning Boards/Executive Committees to generate value for shareholders and stakeholders. We do this through Search, Evaluation and Development and are constantly researching and exploring how Board composition and effectiveness underpin and drive value. In H2 2019 Fidelio will be hosting, moderating and speaking at a number of seminars to shine a light on the Board’s contribution to value:

    • Fidelio will moderate a panel discussion “What the Chair Wants from His/Her Board” with Harvard Business School Club of London on 10th September. Panellists will include Sir Peter Gershon (Chair of National Grid plc), Mike Clasper (Chair of Coats Group plc), Bronwyn Curtis (Chair of JPMorgan Asian Investment Trust), Carl-Peter Forster (Chair of Chemring Group plc) and Jamie Pike (Chair of Cobham plc).
    • At the Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit Gillian Karran-Cumberlege will speak on “Building Boards Fit for the Future: The rise of the CISO” on 10th September, reviewing cyber competence in the Board room and the route to the Board for CTO and CISOs.
    • Gillian Karran-Cumberlege will also speak at The Chairmen’s Forum Dinner: “The Role of the Chair in Board Diversity & the Governance of Search” to explore the Chair’s role in developing diverse and effective Boards on 17th September.
    • The seventh iteration of Fidelio’s “A Seat at the Table” Programme for senior executives and directors will be held 24th-25th September. We will be joined by Board contributors bringing diverse & international perspectives, including Ruth Cairnie (Chair-designate, Babcock International Group), David Jackson (Former Company Secretary, BP plc), Rachel Beagles (Chair, The Association of Investment Companies, Securities Trust of Scotland plc & NewlonBuild Ltd) and Lady Barbara Judge (Chair, Astana Financial Services Authority & Cifas).
    • Looking to German market, Fidelio and CMS will host the fourth annual “Die Frauenquote – An Update on Diversity in German and UK Boardrooms” in Stuttgart on 9th October. Speakers will include: Anne Ruth Herkes (Deputy Chair, Merck Finck Privatbankiers), Angelika Huber-Straßer (Head of Corporates, KPMG Germany), Elke Benning-Rohnke (Member of the Supervisory and Advisory Boards and Vice President, FidAR e.V.), Ilse Henne (COO, thyssenkrupp Materials Services) and Dr. Philine Erfurt Sandhu (Advisor, EAF Berlin).
    • Fidelio will welcome Pauline van der Meer Mohr, Remuneration Committee Chair of HSBC, to our Board Breakfast “The Board and the People Agenda” on 15th October.
