FT Interview with Fidelio’s Pen Hadow “Polar Explorer warms to his new career”

In today’s Financial Times, Peter Whitehead interviews Fidelio’s Pen Hadow.

Pen explains why he thinks that women are often better at Polar exploration than men. The interview looks at how Pen was attracted to Polar exploration, his achievements as an explorer, including the first solo expedition from Canada to the North Pole without resupply, and his instrumental contribution to female Polar exploration.

In the interview, Pen describes “the ruddy great carrot” that is not being talked about in the diversity debate – women bringing a different perspective thereby contributing to the more effective management of risk.

Pen also relates how the skills of the explorer – risk management, innovation and communication – are relevant to corporates. It is the benefit of this highly distinctive Polar experience and insight that Pen brings to Fidelio, where he is actively engaged in Board and Executive Committee Development.
