London, 15th December 2016 – Uncertainty has characterised 2016. This has prompted a busy year for Fidelio as we support clients through Search, Development and Evaluation. 2017 promises to be no less challenging. As such Fidelio is expanding our team of senior consultants, thereby strengthening our ability to build and develop highly effective Boards and leadership teams that are well positioned to navigate complexity in the year ahead.
Looking ahead to 2017, Fidelio is delighted to collaborate with Professor Bob Garratt to support Boards to better navigate uncertainty; Fidelio also welcomes Danielle Neben and Rod Chamberlain as Senior Consultants. All three will contribute across Fidelio’s Search, Development and Evaluation offering.
- Professor Garratt – Bob, a recognised global expert in corporate governance, will collaborate with Fidelio in Board Development and Evaluation. A key focus will be enabling Boards to profit from uncertainty and to develop a strategic thinking capability in a low-visibility, unpredictable environment. In addition, Bob’s highly anticipated new work “Stop the Rot”, the long-awaited sequel to the “The Fish Rots from the Head”, will be published in April 2017. The new work will focus on the governance required to restore confidence and secure the licence to operate.
- Danielle Neben – Danielle, Board Member at Landsbankinn and former IR Officer at HSBC, will bring her international Board and IR experience to Fidelio. She is actively engaged in Fidelio’s prestigious “A Seat at the Table” Programme for senior female executives and directors. In addition, Danielle will work closely with Fidelio on promoting excellence in shareholder engagement and IR at Board and Executive level. Danielle’s global perspective and experience fits well with Fidelio’s international approach and client base.
- Rod Chamberlain – In times of uncertainty, clarity is an advantage. For Candidates, the ability to state concisely what skills and aptitudes they bring to a role provides competitive edge; for Clients, such clarity is a benefit which permits better decision-making. Rod already collaborates with Fidelio on the “A Seat at the Table” Programme and in 2017 will work closely with senior executives and directors within Fidelio’s international network as they shape their Board careers.

Biographies
Bob Garratt is a company director, consultant and academic and works in the fields of corporate governance; board and director evaluation and performance, large-scale organisational change and strategic thinking. He has been an expert on the project for the reconsideration of the governance of the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC and lectured in corporate governance for the governments of Australia, India and South Africa. He is a Founder Member of The Commonwealth Association for Corporate Governance; a Visiting Professor at the Cass Business School, City University, London; and the Chairman of the Centre for Corporate Governance in Africa at the University of Stellenbosch. He has written extensively on board development and his books include The Fish Rots from the Head: Developing the Crucial Skills of the Competent Director (2010), and The Twelve Organisational Capabilities: Valuing People at Work (2001).
Danielle Neben has a 23-year international career in financial services. In 2013, she was appointed as Member of the Board of Directors at Landsbankinn, a leading Icelandic financial institution, where she currently chairs the Strategic Development Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee. Danielle is also a Member of the Board at FKA (the Association of Women Business Leaders in Iceland), a Member of the Board of the Investor Relations Society of Iceland and an independent consultant. Before joining Landsbankinn, Danielle worked at HSBC from 1993 to 2013, including 16 years in their International Management programme in four continents. Some key roles were Member of the Management Board at HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt (Intl.) SA in Luxembourg as Chief Operating Officer and Investor Relations Officer in London during the Financial Crisis up to the £12 billion rights issue.
Danielle holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Finance and a minor in German from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She is native in English and French, advanced in Icelandic and Brazilian Portuguese, intermediate in German, and basic in Mandarin and Spanish.
Rod Chamberlain has worked as an executive mentor and career guidance consultant for 20 years, and has held Executive Committee and local Board roles in investment, corporate and retail banks and securities firms owned by shareholder organisations of 11 different nationalities. His Board experience spans 30 years and five countries, with advisory and non-executive roles in the commercial, not-for-profit and voluntary sectors and includes chairing four Audit Committees. He has served on the Executive Committee and Boards of one statutory and two self-regulatory bodies in the financial services sector.
