Fidelio launches its inaugural development programme "A Seat at the Table"

London – 1st July 2015 – Fidelio Partners has designed a Development Programme focused on the needs and demands of Senior Female Executives, the FTSE’s future female CEOs and Chairwomen.  The Programme, “A Seat at the Table”, focuses on leadership styles and structures, personal presence within a group dynamic, and a crucial understanding of the use of networks.

The programme has met with enthusiastic response and clearly strikes a chord with those women who want to look not just at work life balance but also to explore gender and business is its fullest sense. A FTSE 100 IR Director described it as “A ‘salivating’ Programme for senior female executives” while a leading New York HR Director commented “Sandhurst ‘A Seat at the Table’ programme – Fidelio breaking new ground again.”

Appropriately, Former Deputy Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, General Sir Richard Shirreff, will welcome and lead the participating business women en route to the top table, and to the most senior executive and non-executive roles.

The Davies Review Annual Report 2015 highlighted further progress in building female representation on FTSE100 Boards.  The breakdown, however, revealed a less satisfactory story.  Whilst we have recently passed the 25% mark of women on Boards, set out by the Davies Review, there is still a significant under-representation of women in senior executive roles, particularly in the Board room. The pipeline of senior female executives is under pressure and still needs strong remedial action.

Fidelio Partners’ co-founder, Gillian Karran-Cumberlege, has experience at the top table and, prior to Fidelio, as Global Head of Investor Relations and Capital Markets Communications was Volkswagen’s most senior female executive world-wide.  Drawing upon experience and extensive research with leading global companies, Fidelio has addressed these challenges and asked: “How can women be better prepared and equipped to navigate their way through corporate complexities and emerge unscathed above the glass ceiling?”  This programme is designed to answer that question, and to share the answer with our selected Senior Female Executive attendees.

About General Sir Richard Shirreff
Richard Shirreff has over 37 years of experience as an international leader and commander with exceptional diplomatic, managerial and political skills, rising to the top ranks in the British Army and NATO.  A high achiever of international significance able to operate in the most complex environments under sustained political pressure, he has a record of unfailing achievement from the strategic to the tactical.
An inspirational leader, able to build multinational teams to achieve extraordinary results; a savvy influencer with considerable experience in successful pan-governmental negotiation who would add value, diversity and an alternative approach to any Board.  He is a regular speaker to corporates on leadership and strategy and is establishing himself as an independent consultant focusing particularly on multinational strategic projects and above ground risk (physical, political, reputational, social, etc.) in particular in the extractive industries.
