Fidelio Update – Why "A Seat At The Table" Matters More Than Ever

London, 20th December 2016 – Seldom has “A Seat at the Table” mattered more. As 2016 draws to a close, Corporate Boards face enormous uncertainty – macro-economic, societal, geopolitical. Against this backdrop, Corporate Boards need access to the best talent which will be diverse.

Fidelio’s “A Seat at the Table” Programme addresses this need. Next held on Wednesday 6th – Thursday 7th September 2017, the Programme enables female Executives and Directors to develop their presence and voice at the Top Table and to take charge of their Board careers.

The business landscape is being redrawn by politics. Populism targets big business; in response the government wants better governance. In the UK alone, over recent months, we have seen the  Hampton-Alexander and Parker reviews setting more demanding diversity targets; the Financial Reporting Council’s Report on Corporate Culture and the Role of Boards; and the Corporate Governance Reform Green Paper signalling the government’s intent to shake up Board governance.

As the cards are being thrown in the air, talented women have both a responsibility and an opportunity to take A Seat at the Table and to make a difference.  Fidelio has responded with our distinctive two-day Programme which is fast-learning, high impact and intensely practical and focuses on the key questions facing this generation of female Directors:

1) How to ensure my voice will be heard at the Board table and that I can contribute fully and effectively to the complex decision-making and strategy that will be the order of the day in 2017?

2) How do I allocate my time to have greatest impact and to achieve corporate and personal goals?

3) How do I shape my Board career? How best to gain external Board experience while in a major Executive role; what is the optimal Board portfolio; and how do I ensure that I am on the radar screen for key Board appointments?

By addressing these questions, talented women are better able to succeed at the Top Table and, importantly, to take charge of their Board careers.

In September 2017, Fidelio will once again bring together a select group of women, both Executive and Non-Executive Directors, from a range of sectors, functional backgrounds and geographies. A Seat at the Table is now in its fourth iteration and the Alumni network links female Directors across the globe, contributing to the pipeline of female CEOs and Chairs.

Building on Fidelio’s success in 2016 we will again be hosting A Seat at the Table” at the impressive Leeds Castle, Kent, UK, on Wednesday 6th – Thursday 7th September 2017Places are limited and the final registration date is 31st May 2017.

If the above questions on Board effectiveness and shaping a Board career resonate, or you wish find out more about the A Seat at the Table Programme, please contact Luke Main.
