"IR & the Chairman" Panel Discussion, 11th July 2013

On behalf of the IR Society, Fidelio co-ordinated a panel discussion “IR and the Chairman”.  The panel discussion was co-hosted by Citi Depositary Receipt Services and  intended for senior IR Directors, both from the FTSE and leading international companies.

Our panellists were:

• John Allan, CBE, Chairman of Dixons Retail, WorldPay, Care UK, the DHL UK Foundation.  Non-executive Director of Royal Mail Group and a senior advisor to Alix Partners, Home Office Supervisory Board and a regent of the University of Edinburgh.
• Jessica Mitchell, Group Head of Investor Relations, BP
• Mark Lidiard, Director of Investor Relations & Communications, Essar Energy

The panel explored the relationship between IR and the Chairman, looking at companies of different sizes and in different sectors.  In particular, the panel discussed what the Chairman requires from the IR team – especially from the Head of IR.  We also looked at how Chairman can best provide a framework for the IR Director to function effectively and what the IR Director can do to be of support to the Chairman.
