Fidelio Board Breakfast – "Stop the Rot: Reframing Corporate Governance", 25 April 2017

Corporate Governance is under extreme scrutiny.  Following the Financial Crisis, a stubborn lack of trust in business persists.

Politicians, public opinion and the media all want greater accountability from Corporate Boards.  Increasingly these same voices are also calling for a radical overhaul of the existing Corporate Governance framework.

Fidelio’s Board Development and Executive Search practice has a sharp focus on building Boards and leadership teams that are fit for the future.  The ability to deliver effective Corporate Governance and accountability is key.

Fidelio was therefore delighted to host a Board breakfast with Professor Bob Garratt on 25th April entitled “Stop the Rot: Reframing Corporate Governance”.  Bob is Visiting Professor, Cass Business School and Professor Extraordinaire, Chairman of the Centre for Corporate Governance in South Africa, University of Stellenbosch Business School and the breakfast will mark the upcoming publication of the highly anticipated Stop the Rot: Reframing Governance for Directors and Politicians.  Bob’s acclaimed The Fish Rots from the Head (1995) has in the meantime become a staple for Board Directors and Company Secretaries across the globe.

On 25th April Bob addressed three key themes facing Corporate Boards today:

  • In the context of Brexit and the loss of trust in business, has corporate governance ‘rotted’ beyond repair?
  • Are there alternatives?
  • What are the implications for Board Directors and Board effectiveness today?

This breakfast was by invitation only and took place at at Villandry St James’s, 12 Waterloo Place, SW1Y 4AU.
