Fidelio Board Breakfast – “Building a Board Portfolio with Purpose” with Lord Gus O’Donnell – 11th September 2018

In Fidelio’s work building Boards fit for the future, we clearly see Board Directors seeking purpose in their Board portfolio.

We were therefore delighted to welcome Lord Gus O’Donnell, Chairman of Frontier Economics, Chair of Trustees at Pro Bono Economics and former Head of the Civil Service to explore how to bring value and purpose through Board and Chair roles across government, business and the non-profit sector. A key component was a topic close to Gus’s heart: Boards and well-being. Drawing upon his experience as a plural Chairman and as Head of the Civil Service from 2005-2011 during which he served three Prime Ministers, Gus addressed three key questions:

  • How to bring purpose to Board and Chair roles?
  • How does this differ across corporate, government and non-profit Boards?
  • How to build a Board portfolio that allows impact and influence on issues that matter?

Our guests at this Fidelio Board breakfast were “A Seat at the Table” Alumnae and former contributors including Chairmen and Non-Executive Directors.
